b) Ubiquity of scale free networks Scale free networks exhibit the unusual property of having a finite probability of possessing nodes with a very large number of connections. Despite this, scale-free networks have been found to arise in a surprisingly wide range of real world systems from interconnection of neurons in the brain to the network of collaborations between Hollywood actors. However, there currently does not exist a good characterization of the expected distribution of scale-free networks. This programme aims to rectify this.
